Aching Back

Getting Out of a Chair

I always thought it was pretty straightforward in getting out of a chair. How difficult could it be?

The challenge for many people especially those suffering from low back pain, is how to get out of a chair without adding more pain to your already tired and sore body.

For those suffering with low back pain, it has been noted that 80% of people will suffer from back pain at one point of their lives. It is one of the most debilitating injuries which affects everything, such as:
-walking, sports
-time with family
-your enjoyment of life

You’ve already gone through the protocols of care: Ice, Exercise, Therapy
but now that you’re back (no pun intended), you want to get on with your life without increasing your pain.

Here is a simple method of getting out of a chair. It won’t solve your low back issues, but it will provide some needed relief: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqIKtgItUGA

Further words of advice:
1. try not to jump out of the chair while your body is still healing
2. place your feet and hands in the correct position while helping your feet move together
3. for the first few days, slow down while working and let your body heal
4. slow down, take more rests because you will get better

It is debilitating. It is annoying, but you will get better.
