Massage for Pain

Rub it out

Most pain is from being in a sedentary position while at work, specifically in the areas of the neck, arms, shoulders and low back.

Back

Upwards of 66% of back problems occur in those individuals under the age of 30!  Pain may occur due to injury (lifting a heavy object, twisting, turning), poor posture (due to, for example, pregnancy, slouching, wearing high heels), muscle tone, arthritis, whiplash, pinched nerves, or poor spinal alignment.

Neck

The neck is vulnerable to stress and strain.  Pain may be due to work stress, postural habits, and Injury

Shoulders

The shoulder joint is the easy to injure as it’s only held together by ligaments, which makes it easy to treat and rehabilitate.  Pain may be due to bursitis, muscle imbalance, and sports injury

Arms

Arms are prone to to muscle and ligament strains.  Pain may be due to muscle strain, ligament sprain, bursitis, and tendinitis

Registered massage therapists (RMTs) provide postural, relaxation and active techniques to break the stress/tension/pain cycle.  Massage helps to:

  • Decrease muscle spasm and pain
  • Restore pain-free range of motion
  • Release active trigger points
  • Minimize adhesions
  • Correct muscle imbalance
  • Eliminate inflammation byproducts
  • Promote healthy vibrant skin
  • Complement other treatment modalities
  • Speed recovery from strenuous physical exertion
  • Keep the body and mind functioning optimally

See your doctor if the pain persists or doesn’t go away within a day or two.  See your therapist if treatment is recommended.
